BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK PEOPLE IN INDIA :

Their are small communities like Jambur scattered along India west coast. They are the home to the descendants of Africans who arrived on the Indian continent thousands of years ago. Many of them travelled there as Mercenaries, Merchants and Sailors. The trade between East and Southern Africa and Gujarat in India was established more then 2000 years ago. Many of the Indian Kings and Princes recruited African as their Ministers, Personal Body Guards and Musicians, in some parts of India and Pakistan Sidis even rose to be Powerful Generals or Kings themselves.

In India up till Independence two kingdom ( Jantira and Sachin ) were run by African dynasties. Its a pity how little is known of Black People in India and India was a less Bigoted place a few hundred years ago.

BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK INDIANS IN THE UNITED STATES:

Historic relationships between Native Americans and African Americans were relatively neglected in the United States history studies. At various times African had more or less contact with Native Americans, although they did not live together in as great numbers as with Europeans. African slaves brought to the United States and their descendants have had a history of cultural, exchange and intermarriage with native Americans and other slaves who possessed Native American and European ancestry. Most interaction took place in the Southern United States where slaves were held in greater numbers.

Numerous African American thus have some Native or inguistic ties to native people. Relationship among native American groups and African Americans have been varied and complex. Some groups were more accepting of Africans than others and welcome them as full members of their respective cultures and communities. Native peoples often disagreed about the role of ethnic African people in their communities. Other native Americans saw uses for slavery and did not oppose it for others.
