Chris Williams (born June 1, 1981 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian soccer player currently without a club.
Career
College
He played for the University of Mobile in Alabama where he took home First Team All-American honours in the 2002-03 season.
Professional
After playing college soccer for the University of Mobile in Alabama, Williams was drafted by the Toronto Lynx, but later was traded to the Montreal Impact. During his time in Montreal, Williams became a regular on the team, helping Montreal to win their second USL First Division Championship and also the Voyageurs Cup in 2003 and 2004.
After the 2004 season, Williams joined the Toronto Lynx as a free agent and became an important player in the Lynx midfield. On April 6, 2006, Williams re-signed with the Lynx to help anchor the midfield.[1]
In January 2007, Williams joined roster of SK Kladno in the Gambrinus Liga in the Czech Republic. He was competing along with Canadian teammate Dave Simpson.[2] He only played two league games for them.
Williams trained with the Montreal Impact in Florida in March 2008 before signing with the Charleston Battery of the USL First Division. He made 48 appearances and scored 1 goal in his two seasons with the Battery[3] before signing with the Vancouver Whitecaps on November 12, 2009.[4]
On October 19, 2010, the Vancouver Whitecaps released Williams, along with five fellow players, citing their need to purge certain players in preparation for their upcoming promotion to Major League Soccer.[5]
International
Williams played at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina, alongside Atiba Hutchinson and Mike Klukowskiamong others.[6]
He then earned his first senior national team cap on January 18, 2003 versus United States, where the match resulted in 4-0 victory for the States.[7] He would later record his second cap five years later against Martinique, where the Canadians would claim the game by a score of 1-0.[8] On November 19, 2008 Williams was called up again for a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Jamaica.[9]

Personal life
Born in Toronto but raised in nearby Scarborough, Williams is married to his Czech wife Darina and the couple have a son.
