BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : BLACK STREET GANGS IN LOS ANGELES :
In Los Angeles and other urban areas in the United States, the formation of street gangs increased at an alarming pace throughout the 1980's and 1990's. The Blood and the Crips the most well known gangs of Los Angeles, are predominately African America and they steadily increased in number since the beginning in 1969 in addition, there are approximately 600 Hispanic gangs in Lo Angeles County with a growing Asian gangs population numbering approximately 20,000 members.
By the early 1970's black street gangs began to reemerged, by 1972 the period saw the rise of LA's newest gangs which continued to grow during the 1990's and later formed in several other cities throughout the United States, by the 1990's. While black gangs do not make up the largest most active gang population in Los Angeles today, there influence on street gang culture naturally has been profound: It has its risk as they are dangerous and can be very violent when there is street wars between these street gangs. Some of the young people join these gangs as a substitute for there family and the street cred it gives them and also the chance to make untold money and fancy ladies. But death can come quickly from any angle and its very sad to see young men lying dead in the street.
