BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : AFRICAN AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL FOIOTBALL PLAYER RUNNING BACK - TED BROWN : GOES INTO THE " HALL OF BLACK GENIUS"

Former N.C. State running back and Atlantic Coast Conference career rushing leader Ted Brown was among the selections announced Tuesday for the latest class of inductees into the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
The High Point native piled up 4,602 rushing yards between 1975-78 for the Wolfpack. He was a consensus All-American as a senior and is the only player in ACC history to make the all-leauge first team four times. Brown still owns the ACC career records for most 100-yard rushing games (27) and most rushing touchdowns (49).
Brown went on to an eight-year professional career with the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings where he racked up 4,500 yards and 53 touchdowns. He'll jion six other N.C. State players or coaches in the hall of fame. The others include Dennis Byrd (2010), Lou Holtz (2009), Jim Ritcher (1998), Roman Gabriel (1989), Jack McDowall (1975) and Buck Shaw (1972).
Also selected for induction was former Miami quarterback and 1986 Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde, Arizona defensive end Tedy Bruschi (1992-95), Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne (1996-99), Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier (1992-95), Texas defensive back Jerry Grray (1981-84), Eastern Kentucky end Steve Meilinger (1951-53), Ohio State offensive tackle Orlando Pace (1994-96), Oklahoma linebacker Rod Shoate (1972-74), Michigan State linebacker Percy Snow (1986-89), Baylor quarterback Don Trull (1961-63), Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel (1993-96), former Navy and Temple coach Wayne Hardin and ex-Colorado coach Bill McCartney.
The additions of Brown and Testaverde will give the ACC 95 inductees into the hall. Both players will be honored at the 56th NFF annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 10 in New York, but won't be officially enshrined until next summer.
