BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : AFRO-CANADIAN " C/SUPT. CRAIG GIBSON " CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE ( RCMP ) 32 YEARS SERVICE OF POLICING WITH HONOURS : GOES INTO THE " HALL OF BLACK GENIUS "

C/Supt. Gibson was born in Kentville and raised in Gibson Woods, Nova Scotia. He joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in December 1980.
During his 32 years of policing, he has served in the provinces of Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Ontario. His policing experience has consisted of general duties, highway patrol, staffing and personnel, instructor/facilitator at the RCMP Training Academy (Depot), Recruiting NCO, watch commander and detachment commander.
C/Supt. Gibson was commissioned to the rank of Inspector in September 2001 and became the Officer in Charge of Traffic Services for the Province of Nova Scotia. In addition, he maintained responsibilities as the Officer in Charge of the RCMP Tactical Troop for the provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
In June 2004, C/Supt. Gibson was transferred to Ottawa Headquarters and assumed the role and responsibilities as Executive Officer to the Commissioner. In September 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and was transferred to Regina as the Officer in Charge of Client Services for "F" Division. In 2007 he was the Assistant Criminal Operations Officer, in charge of Contact Policing for "F" Division where he was responsible for Aboriginal Policing Services, Major Crimes, Traffic Services, Support Services, Community Policing & Diversity Management and Operation Readiness & Response. In September 2009, he transferred back to "H" Division Nova Scotia as the Officer In Charge of Southwest Nova District. In July 2012, he transferred to "L" Division as the Commanding Officer.
C/Supt. Gibson has received the Commanding Officer's Commendation and a Commanding Officer's Award of Excellence from "H" Division. He is a recipient of the RCMP Long Service Medal and the Canada 125 Medal. He was the Aide-de-Camp for the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart, Regina, Saskatchewan.
He and his wife Debbie have two adult children, a son who lives in Regina, SK and a daughter who lives in Aylmer, QC. He has three grandchildren.

In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, golf and snowmobiling. C/Supt. Gibson is an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan.
