Garnett Manning has responded to the call to leadership, announcing his decision to run for Mayor of Brampton, the fastest growing city in the Greater Toronto Area.
Mr. Manning has had an exemplary career in the public sector serving as an active City Councillor. His leadership record is also evident in the non-profit sector where, in volunteer and paid capacities, Mr. Manning has worked for and with a number of grassroots organizations in Brampton. They include the United Achievers Club, and the Brampton Neighbourhood Resource Centre. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Peel Children’s Aid Society.
In the summer of 2009, the Garnett Manning Youth and Leadership Foundation was launched and forms part of Mr. Manning’s commitment to affect the lives of youth and leaders for a better Brampton.
Mr. Manning has been the recipient of several community recognition awards including:
1.Brampton Clean City Award
2.African-Canadian Achievement Award 2006
for Excellence in Politics.
3.Camp Jumoke Appreciation Award
Manning believes, with the challenges of uncontrolled growth and property taxes, escalating youth violence and seniors at risk of being taxed out of their homes,
Brampton’s most urgent need is a clear vision for the future and a balanced plan for growth and development.
Garnett is a graduate of George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology. He also holds a Bachelor of Theology degree (B.Th). He is married with two children.
