Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Germany Presents Credentials
His Excellency Jongopie Siaka Stevens, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, on Tuesday 28th April 2009 presented his letters of credence to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Professor Dr. Horst Koehler, at his office in Berlin.
The impressive ceremony was witnessed by senior officials of the German Foreign Office, the Minister Counselor and head of Chancery, Ms. Crispina Wright and the First Secretary, Aiah E. M’bawa of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Bonn, Germany.
The ceremony provided the opportunity for Ambassador Stevens to have fruitful bilateral discussions with the German president, focusing at promoting meaningful development in the Republic of Sierra Leone and strengthening the existing bond of friendship between the two countries.
In the afternoon, Ambassador Jongopie Stevens paid a courtesy call on the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Germany, the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Arch-Bishop Dr. Jean Claude, during which matters of mutual interests were discussed.
Finally in the evening, a dinner was hosted in honour of His Excellency Ambassador Jongopie Siaka Stevens and Mrs. Georgiana Stevens by the executive of the Sierra Leone community of Berlin and Brandenburg. During this event, the President of the organization, Dr. Jacob Ladipoh, gave an overview of the activities of the organization and highlighted some of its setbacks.
Dr. Ladipoh assured the Ambassador of the fullest support of the Sierra Leonean community in Germany throughout his tenure.
Responding, Ambassador Stevens conveyed best wishes from His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and recounted the positive strides already taken back home since the All People’s Congress (APC) came to power.
