Rear Admiral Geoffrey Mawuli Biekro was appointed the Chief of the Naval Staff of the Ghana Navy on 28 March 2013. Prior to this appointment he was the Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces.

He was commissioned into the Ghana Navy as an Executive Officer on 20 December 1975 after his Basic Training at the Ghana Military Academy, Teshie and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, UK.

He has attended various specialized Military and Civil courses. Notable among these Military courses are the International Midshipmen and International Sub-Lieutenant technical Courses at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth and School of Maritime Operation Portsmouth UK. He is a graduate of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) where he was adjudged the best Naval Student at the Senior Staff Course.

Rear Admiral Biekro attended the Nasser Military Academy and High War College in Egypt in 2005 where he obtained Diploma in Strategic Studies. 

With regard to civil courses, he holds a Master of Arts and Master of Philosophy Degrees in Development Studies from the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana. He attended the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 1992 where he obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration with Distinction. He also holds a BSc Degree in Management Studies from the Pacific Southern University California, USA graduating with First Class. He also holds a Diploma in Christian Counselling from the International Theological Seminary USA and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Ghana Legon. He was called to the Bar and enrolled as a Barrister at Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana on 3 October 2014.

Rear Admiral Biekro served on-board several ships as Watch-keeping Officer, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer. He was a Directing Staff (DS) at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the Command and Staff College Jaji Nigeria. He also served as the Military Assistant to the General Officer Commanding of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Chief of the Defence Staff from 1992 to 1996. Rear Admiral Biekro also served as the Director, Naval Training, at the Naval Headquarters from 2000 to 2002.

He is married with children. His hobbies include soccer, jogging and listening to gospel music.
