BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY David Olatukunbo Alaba is an Austrian player of Bayern Munich and the Austria national football team. Alaba is a universal footballer, capable of playing at least at three positions, including left full back, defensive midfielder and left winger. He was born in Vienna in the family of a Filipino nurse and a Nigerian DJ.
David began his career in football in the youth system of Austria Vienna. In 2008 he managed to get to the first-team substitutes’ bench. After 5 matches for Austria’s reserve team, Alaba moved to Bayern Munich in summer 2008.
In the 2009/10 season the Austrian was first promoted to Bayern reserve team. David’s debut for Bayern Munich IIwas on August 2009 in Regionalliga match versus Dynamo Dresden. On 29 August Alaba netted his first goal for the second team. After such a successful start, he was soon named in the club’s first squad for the 2009/10 UEFAChampions League. Starting from January 2010, the Austrian began training with Bayern Munich first team.
On 10 February 2010 the footballer made his Bayern Munich debut. Alaba substituted Christian Lell in a DFB Cup game versus SpVgg Greuther Fürth. In a minute David provided an assist for the winning goal netted by Franck Ribéry. At that moment David was 17 years, 7 months and 8 days old. The Austrian made his Bundesliga debut on 6 March 2010, appearing on the pitch in the 25th round of the country’s primary football competition in a game against FC Köln, and came on in the 73rd minute, replacing Diego Contento. Some days later Alaba made his UEFA Champions League debut versus ACF Fiorentina.
On 10 June 2011 Bayern renewed his contract with the Austrian whiz until 2015.
