Chadwick Aaron Boseman (born November 29, 1976)[1][2][3][4][5] is an American actor, screenwriter, and playwright. He is best known for portraying Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013) and James Brown in Get On Up (2014). He will star as the superhero Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and his own film as the titular character, which will be released on July 6, 2018.

Early life

Boseman was born in Anderson, South Carolina, the son of Carolyn, a nurse, and Leroy Boseman, who owns an upholstery business.[6][7] He graduated from T.L. Hanna High School in 1995[8][9] and later graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He also graduated from the British American Dramatic Academy in OxfordOxfordshire.
From 2002 to 2007, Boseman was the drama instructor in the Schomburg Junior Scholars Program, housed at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in HarlemNew York.

Career

As a playwright, Boseman's script for Deep Azure, performed at the Congo Square Theatre Company in ChicagoIllinois, was nominated for a 2006 Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work. He has also had television roles in Lincoln Heights as Nathaniel "Nate" Ray and as Sergeant McNair in the NBC television series Persons Unknown. He also starred as Lt. Samuel Drake in the action thriller The Kill Hole.[10]
Boseman's film debut came in 2008, when he appeared in The Express: The Ernie Davis Story, in which he portrayed future Hall-of-Famer Floyd Little. He starred in the 2013 film42 as Jackie Robinson.[11] In 2014, he co-starred in Draft Day as Vontae Mack and starred as James Brown in Get on Up. He will also be playing Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, as well as an upcoming solo film in July 2018.
