BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY :BLACK COW BOYS OF THE OLD WEST : THE REAL TRUTH :

The most common image of the Wild West is a gun toting boot wearing white man like John Wayne and Clinton Eastwood in a all the Hollywood Western films and Italian Spaghetti Western. But the Hollywood portrayal of the Wild West is a white washed version of the reality, it is thought that about a quarter of all cow boys were Black. Most people have not heard about the Black Presence in the Old West. The children in our schools learning about history class rooms are not been  told the truth about the way the West was. In the Old West the real truth was that Black Cow Boys were every were. Black Cow Boys had a job of breaking horses, being songsters which help to keep the cattle stay calm.

Black Cow Boys also benefit from what was known as " Range Equality, as cow boys they had a degree of  independence as you id not have an overseers. Because they have to go on horse backs and they may be gone for days. Life was never the less harder for Black Cow Boys than for white their white counter parts. Vincent Jacobs 80 years old a former rodeo rider who lives in Houston, Texas, recalls Racism he faced when he was starting out. There would be separate rodeos for blacks and whites, it was very hard  for black cow boys. They would  only let me perform after all the white people have been led out of the Arena.
