AndrĂ© Holland (born December 28, 1979) is an American actor who has appeared on stage, television and in feature films. He was featured in NBC's 2012 comedy 1600 Penn as White House Press Secretary Marshall Malloy and portrayed sportswriter Wendell Smith in the 2013 film 42.

  

Biography

He was born on December 28, 1979. He attended Florida State University and New York University[1] and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from NYU in 2006.[2] His first stage performance was in Oliver at the Birmingham Summerfest Theatre at the age of eleven.[1]
Since then, Holland has performed in several theatre productions. In 2006, he portrayed three characters (Simon, Rex and Jesse) in the play Blue Door and Charles Isherwood ofThe New York Times gave him a positive review for his performance.[2] In 2008, he played Eric in the play Wig Out![3] and Elegba/Marcus in The Brother/Sister Plays the following year.[4] In 2010, he was cast in the Doug Hughes play The Whipping Man[5] and won the Vivian Robinson/Audelco Award for "Supporting Actor" for The Whipping Man.[6]
In 2011, he starred as Julian 'Fitz' Fitzgerald on the NBC sitcom Friends with Benefits. Holland also appears with Clive Owen in the Cinemax original TV drama The Knick.[7]
