BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : AFRICAN AMERICAN "SOUL SOLDIERS" OF THE VIETNAM WAR : THEY GO INTO THE " HALL OF BLACK GENIUS"

The  Vietnam War saw the highest proportion of Blacks ever to serve in an American War. During the height of the US involvement, 1965 to 1969, Blacks who formed 11 percent of the American population made up 12.6 percent of the soldiers in Vietnam. The majority of these were in the infantry though authorities differ in there figures, the percentages of Black combat fatalities in that period was a staggering 14.9 percent, a proportion that subsequently declined.  Volunteers and draftees including many frustrated  Blacks whose impatience with the war and the delays in racial progress in America led to race riots on a number of ships and military bases, beginning in 1968 and the service response in creating interracial councils and racial sensitivity  training. The participation of American of African descent in the US Military has a long and distinguished history.

But although African American have participated in all Americas wars, they have some times faced almost as bitter hostility from there fellow Americans as from the enemy. Never the less particular, since the 1970s the US Military has made serious efforts at racial integration and while much remains to be done, the military has achieve a degree of success in this area that surpasses most civilian institutions. African American have served in every wars that the United States have been involved in. Throughout the Nation history, African American soldiers, sailors and marines have contributed conspicuously to Americas military efforts. From the Civil Wars through to the Korean War, segregated African American Units usually Officered by Whites, performed in both combat and support capacities. In 1948 President Harry Truman ordered the US Military establishment to desegregate. Best thing ever done by a White Dude, recognizing that Black People are Human Being as well at long last.
