BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK PEOPLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIRST WORLD WAR PART 1. WE WERE THEIR, FOUGHT AND DIED IN BATTLE:

Most people find it so hard to believe that Black People fought in the First World War, we fought in British Army, The French Army, The American Army and The German Army, all these European conflict that had very little to do with the Black Population but as the European had Empires with lots of Black People in various colonies, and the American had ex-slaves within their country, it was a rich picking ground for the Colonial Powers to draft Black People into their Army at will, in the case of the Americans, they at first would not accept Black Volunteers who wanted to prove them selves to their community, their neighbors, the nation as true loyal subject of the United States, but as ever a Nation that was so segregated. and did not believe the Blacks had the capacity to be able to fight nor lead fellow men into battle, but to lead White Soldiers into battle is a No! No!

Why these attitude went on long after the slave trade and slavery was abolished is not difficult to fathom as a class of white syndrome and plantation syndrome still had a powerful hold on the white race, it would have been impossible for them to seat and share the same dinning table as the Black Men and Women who wanted to serve their nation. Even when the draft system as brought in when the American entered the first world war, they were overwhelm with Black men join up to fight to server their country, but would their country treat them as equal ? sadly No! the old Jim Crow Laws, the Law of Segregation still had a powerful hold on the US Army.
