Hardy T. Frye, PhD is a social scientist and a community development expert.  He has over thirty years experience as a professor of sociology with a research emphasis on community development, policy analysis, program evaluation, and building collaborative school-community partnerships.  His consultant experience in all these areas extends to local, national, and international arenas.  Dr. Frye most recently served as the Director of the U.S. Peace Corps in Guyana, South America where he directed projects in community development, health education development, and information technology (helping to build the infrastructure for the expansion of information technology throughout Guyana).  Although the majority of his work experience has been in higher education, he has continued to work with community-based organizations in a variety of professional and volunteer roles.

The broad range of Dr. Frye’s academic and professional experience provides a comprehensive understanding of the factors essential to building and sustaining collaborative relationships between various organizations.  He also has worked on issues of diversity and affirmative action working both at the policy level and conducting workshops and seminars in the area.  This experience makes him unique in his ability to respond to diverse individual and organizational needs; whether it includes program design, organizational developments, conducting research or program evaluations.

Dr. Frye has been a member of the faculty at Yale University, California State University at Sacramento, the University of California at Berkeley, Davis, and Santa Cruz.  He retired from University of California at Santa Cruz as Professor Emeritus of Sociology in 1999.  He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from University of California at Berkeley.  Dr. Frye has served on many local, statewide, and national review panels, i.e. Panel of Experts for the Department of Education, State of California; the National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, Washington, D.C.; and the Board of Advisors for California Alliance for Math and Science, a National Science Foundation project.
