Anderson, USA, Director of Army Force Management, discussed "A Balanced Army" at IWP. IWP Army Senior Fellow Col. Greg Gadson introduced Maj. Gen. Anderson, describing his numerous appointments in the Army, and calling him a "mentor, friend, and great American."
Anderson began by echoing a sentiment shared by The Institute of World Politics - that statecraft is truly "the most important tool in our nation's toolkit." He proceeded to describe how U.S. strategy, especially Quadrennial Defense Review, affects Army policy. He also discussed changes the Army needs to make to keep up with technology and globalization, and explained that the next decade will be one of persistent conflict - but not necessarily with violence at the high end of the spectrue.
