BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : AFRICAN AMERICAN BRIGADIER GENERAL LESLIE C. SMITH COMMANDER, 29TH SUPPORT COMMAND: GOES INTO THE " HALL OF BLACK GENIUS"

Gen. Leslie C. Smith, commander, 20th Support Command (CBRNE) will be promoted to major general during a ceremony Sept. 21, 2012. This marks the first time the 20th Spt. Cmd. (CBRNE) will have a major general as commander.

Gen. David M. Rodriguez, commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command will host the ceremony.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held at the APG Theater, Bldg. 3245. Photo identification (a driver’s license is acceptable) is required for admittance to APG. If attending, a public affairs representative will meet you at the APG Visitor Center (take US 40 towards Aberdeen; exit onto MD 715 and proceed to the APG Visitor Center on right.)

The 20th Spt. Cmd. (CBRNE) is the Army’s premier command combating chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosive threats facing the nation. With more than 5,300 military and civilian employees dispersed across 19 units in 16 different states, command and control of these highly-trained and specialized forces resides under one headquarters on the Edgewood Area of APG. The 20th Spt. Cmd. (CBRNE) gives the Army and the nation a scalable response capability with the flexibility to operate in a variety of environments.
