BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : AFRICAN AMERICAN BRIGADIER GENERAL HENRY L. HUNTLEY A FIRST CLASS UNITED STATES ARMY GENERAL : GOES INTO THE " HALL OF BLACK GENIUS "

         BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY
     A native of Atlanta, GA, Brigadier General Henry L. Huntley was commissioned a Second       Lieutenant of Infantry and assigned to Fort Benning, GA, in August 1983.
      General Huntley has served in a variety of operational and staff assignments in the United States and Germany, with two tours in the Pentagon. Before coming to the Recruiting Command, he served two years as Director of Public and Congressional Affairs for the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Fort Belvoir, VA.
      Previous assignments include: Rifle Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, C Company, 1st Battalion, 58th Infantry, 197th Brigade; Brigade Assistant Plans Officer, 197th Bde (M) (S); Battalion S3, 3rd Battalion, 46th Infantry; Company Commander, B Company, 3rd Bn, 46th Infantry; Assistant Professor of Military Science at Mercer University in Macon, GA; and S3, 2nd Squadron, 11th ACR.
      He has held a number of public affairs assignments including Media on the Battlefield Observer Controller, National Training Center and Fort Irwin (1994-1995); Installation Public Affairs Officer (1995-1996), NTC; EUCOM PA Africa Team Chief (1998-2000); European Team Chief (2000-2001); Deputy Chief of Media Relations and Operation, Intelligence and Logistics Team Leader OCPA (2001-2003); Deputy Chief of Public Affairs, CFLCC and CJTF-7 (OIF-1 - 2003); Leadership Support Team Chief, Public Affairs Officer for the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army (2003-2004); OCPA Chief of Plans (2005-2006); and Executive Officer to the Chief of Public Affairs (2006-2009).
      His professional military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses (now MCCC), Bradley Commander’s Course, CAS3, Cadet Command Instructor Course, Defense Information School, Command and General Staff College, Joint Public Affairs Advanced Course and Joint Professional Military Education Phase II (JCWS), Pentagon Staff Officer Course, and the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, PA.
      His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY, a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
      General Huntley's military decorations include the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Basic Airborne Wings and the Army Staff Identification
