BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK PEOPLE IN THE IRAQ WAR: " DESERTS STORM"
8o% of African American thought before the war in Iraq started that it was a bad idea. That partly because 22% of the Armed Forces are Black at twice the percentage of the American Population. It means if you are Black, you are more likely than most American to know someone who might be put in harms way in active combat a relative, a friend, or a co-worker. In my case, you tend to know people personally in each of these categories who were sent to Iraq.
On the 17th January, Desert Storm began with a co-ordinated attack, the initial attack by Navy missiles, land base Tomahawk missiles eliminated Iraqi Defence and Command and Control Capabilities. An integrated lead Army, Navy and Air Force from every angle with African American Black Soldiers, Navy, Air Force and Marines which included men and women in every level of the U.S. Military in the forefront, support and combat as a single integrated Military Force out to do a fine job. The taking down of the Iraqi Government and its Armed Forces, this included from Private to Four Star General, Sailors to Captain, this was an Army out to win, with the Black Troops doing their best with honour.
