BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACKS IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION : WE WHERE THEIR !!!!!!!

Black People were Slaves all over America before the American Revolution, in the Southern parts of the New World, the slaves were mainly working in the plantations as labors in the cotton, tobacco and corn plantations, in the Northern parts of the New World, the slaves were mainly house servants, working in jobs like wood and timber cutting and helping as domestic servants. As one can see now its was this that will divide the loyalty of the slaves some who will fight on the British side who became known as Black Loyalist, and the Black Slaves who fought on the Rebels side or Freedom Fighters who were to be called Black Rebel Fighters.

Early in the American Revolution their was some reluctance to arm African American Slaves, altogether about 5000 African American fought for the United States. They served in integrated units, some thing that would not be seen again in the American Military untill the Korean War. When Rochambeans force united with Washington troops outside New York City in 1781, the French were impressed by the number of African American in the ranks of the Continental Army. Resistance to recruiting slaves eroded as the war went on and it became harder to find recruits for the continental army. Massachusetts accepted African American enlistments in 1777, Rhode Island did the same in 1778. The other New England States followed by enlisting Free African American into the ranks. Maryland became the only southern states to recruit slaves, and Virginia acepted Free African American into the ranks. Many Free African American joined the military out of Conviction.
