Africans in Guangzhou are a sizable community of Black Africans primarily concentrated in Yuexin District and Baiyun District in Guangzhou China. Since the country's late 1990's economic boom, thousand of African Traders and Business people predominantly from West Africa migrated to the city of Guangzhou creating an African Town in the middle of the Southern Chinese Metropolis of approximately 10,000,000 people. The primarily male population often set up local businesses and also engage in international trade. As a relatively new phenomenon in China the influx of Africans to Guangzhou has been met ith mixed reaction from the local population.
This has open new discussions in Guangzhou including racism, xenophobia and immigration unseen previously in modern China. The Black population in Guangzhou has increased by 30% to 40% each year and now forms the largest black population in Asia. Estimate put the Black population at around 200,000. Most of the Africans in the Chinese city are on visitors visa, but choose to stay as illegal immigrants to run there businness.
