Black People as very talented sports men and sports women have had to fight so hard against Racism and Bigots to break the Race Barriers down. In Lawn Tennis Jackie Robinson broke the Color Barrier down in Lawn Tennis. Althea Gibson 1927 to 2003 during the 1940's Gibson broke the color barrier which previously existed in the United States Tennis Association. She was the first African American to ever compete in the U.S. National Championship at Forest Hill. In July 1957 the 20 year old girl become the first African American ever to win a championship in Britain the historic Wimbledon Tournament.
The other African American of Note in the early days was Arthur Robert Ashe Jnr 1943 to 3003 he won three Grand Slam Titles and was the first African American Tennis Player to be selected for the United States Davis Cup Team. Black modern tennis super stars tennis players like the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena Williams are International Super Stars of the Tennis World well known through out the world. The Blacks have arrived.
