Carl Lloyd is not a house hold name, Lloyd, Clifton and Cooper all joined the NBA during the same season none of them had to carry the burden alone. Cooper made is debut with the Boston Celtics just one day after Lloyd played his first game with Washington. In basket ball NBA, the players did not meet with the same level of tension. Lloyd had some uncomfortable times, celebrating a win, some guy spat on him after the game. On another occasion a diner refuse to serve him, so he went to his hotel room to eat his dinner,Horace "Bones" Mckinney who was the Washington Coach in show of support joined Lloyd in his room for dinner.
Today its not unusual fo r ten African American players to be in the court at once during an NBA game. There are also African American Coaches and General Managers. However in the 1950's when three men had the patience, courage and ability to handle being ground breakers. They had to put up with a lot of bad people, bad things and evil that meant a man is only judge by the color of is skin not is ability and skills in the sports field, but they open the doors for other Black People to move in.
