BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN BASE BALL PLAYER :
































The first Black Base Ball Players was likely a young children playing in street or fields. Black base ball players were not always allowed to play our National Past Time at the major league level. Jackie Robinson knew that the future of blacks in base ball depends on it. The pressure was enormous, overwhelming and unbearable at time. I dont know how he held up, he was a driven man. American began playing base ball on informal teams using local rules, in the early 1800's. By 1860's the sport, unrivaled in popularity, was being described as America's National Past Time. Base Ball rules and teams were gradually formalized during the mid  1800's. in 1845 Alexandra Cartwright published a set of base ball rules for the Knickerbocker club of New York and his rules were widely adopted.

In 1869 Cincinnati Red Stocking became the first openly salaried team and are thus consider the first professional team in America. African American played base ball throughout the 1800's by the 1860's notable Black American Amateur Teams such as the Colored Union Club in Brooklyn, New York and the Pythan Club, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvanian, hadformed. All Black Professional teams began in the 1880's among them the St Louis Black Stocking and the Cuban Giants of New York, reflecting American society in general, amateur and professional base ball remained largely segregated for a long time.
