BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : BLACK TENNIS PLAYERS THEIR EARLY AND CURRENT ERA :

I was unaware the a break through moment happen in 1898 when Blacks began to have inter-club matches with rival black clubs in New York, Philadelphia and a variety of Eastern Sea board cities. The rivalries at this time consist of Black Collegiate players and it was a way foe tennis players to net work with each other so the early days of black tennis history was mostly for the  tennis player who attended college. A significant moment in history occurred in 1940  when Don Budge the number one player in the world played an exhibition match against Jimmy Mcdaniels, it was a history making event because it featured two number one players.

Mr Mcdaniels was the number one black tennis player in the world  It drew a crowd of over 2000 spectators  jammed into the Cosmopolitan Tennis club in Harlem, New York. Even though Mr Mcdaniels lost the match, it was a victory for Black Tennis because Mr Budge took a stand in support of Equal Opportunity for Black Tennis players.
