Born to Nigerian immigrants in Cassino, Italy, Angelo began his youth career with Torino. He came through the club`s youth ranks and finally sealed a full-time contract in 2006. His Serie A debut came against Reggina on February 11, 2007. During the 2007/2008 campaign the strong, imposing defender spent time on loan with Crotone.
In the 2008/2009 Ogbonna returned to Torino where he initially was used as a substitute. After the club`s promotion in 2009, the commanding centre-back cemented his place in the m

ain squad. On February 2, 2012 he committed to stay at Stadio Olimpico until June 30, 2016. However, in July 2013 he moved across the city to join giants Juventus. Comfortable on the ball and solid in the air, Angelo carved a reputation as one of the most promising defenders in Italy.
On August 12, 2009 Ogbonna made his first international bow for Italy U-21 in the friendly encounter against Russia. His senior international debut came on June 4, 2011. Angelo`s fine club form resulted in a call-up to Prandelli`s Euro 2012 squad.
