BLACK                    SOCIAL                 HISTORY                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          A French footballer of Senegalese ancestry Mamadou Sakho is a defender of Liverpool.
He took up football at the age of 6 at Paris FC. But in 2002 Paris Saint-Germain FC enticed Mamadou to their club. At first he occupied the position of forward but the team sorely needed defenders at that time so Sakho was transferred to a defensive position. In spring 2005 the football player helped the team to win the Coupe Nationale and later the same year he earned a call-up to the club’s U-18 football team. A young defender also assisted the team in winning of the Championnat National des 18 ans title.
In the middle of June 2007 Mamadou agreed to a three-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain FC. In the ensuing season the footballer appeared for the club in 34 matches. Owing to the defender the team entered the Coupe de France semifinal, was awarded a silver medal in Ligue 1 competition and participated in the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. Due to his effective play Paris Saint-Germain made a decision to extend Sakho’s contract until June 2012. Two weeks later on 14 February 2009 the defender scored his first professional game-winning goal in the match against Saint-Étienne. By the way it was the next day after Mamadou’s 19th birthday. The football player started the 2009/10 season in defence partnering Zoumana Camara. In the UEFA Europa League he had to captain the team as the former captain Claude Makélélé was unavailable. In August the footballer played as a centre-back. On 11 September 2010 Mamadou Sakho netted his first goal in the season against AC Arles-Avignon.
After almost 200 appearances for the French club Sakho joined Liverpool in September 2013.
