BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK PEOPLE IN THE IRAQ WAR:

Ex-President George Bush wanted war in Iraq and would go to any length to get it. African American make up 12% of the US Population, but account for 21% of the Military Personnel including 30% of the Army.
African American are among the first into combat and the least acknowledged Americans and from the poor rural areas, many fresh from high school. African American has fought and died in every major war the US has been involved in.

1770 - 1783  At least 5000 African American free and  slaves still owned by various masters served in the continental army and navy of the American Revolution.

1812 - 1814  Several thousand African American help defend Washington DC, Philadelphia and New Orleans in the US/ British War of 1812 - 1814.

1812 - 1814  At least some 1000 African American mostly seamen in the US Navy in the Gulf of Mexico participated in the Mexican Wars.

1851 - 1865  Some 186,000 African American soldiers spread among 120 regiments and some 29000 Black Seamen contributed significantly to the Union Victory.

So when the call to arms came and the Bush War Drums was beating very hard and the country needed fighting men, African American were in the forefront in the combat zones of Iraq serving and dieing in Iraq Battle Fields. The last American Soldier to die in Iraq was Black.
