BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY: BLACK PEOPLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR OF 1898 :

In 1898 the Spanish-American war was escalating, Theodore Roosevelt assembled an Improbable Regiment  of Ivy Leaguers, Cowboys. Native Americans, African Americans and Western Territory Land Speculators. This group of men, which became known as the Rough Riders, trained for four weeks in the Texas desert and set sail for Cuba.

























Sixteen Regiments of Black Volunteers were recruited during the Spanish-American War, four Black Regiment saw combat and five African American won Congressional Medals Of Honor. Black Participation in the Spanish - American War was a Segregated undertaking, were African American Soldiers were segregated in an all Black Regiment led by White Officers and the Whites were in an all White Regiment.
