BLACK SOCIAL HISTORY : FRANKLIN " FRANK" ROY BRUNO MBE - FORMER WORLD HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPION : A BRITISH PROFESSIONAL BOXER :

Frank Bruno was born on 1th November 1961 in England, a former boxer whose career highlight was winning the WBC Heavy Weight Championship in 1995. Although he won 40 of his 45 contest like Henry Cooper before him. Bruno has remained a popular celebrity with the British public since his ring career ended. Bruno became a professional boxer in 1982 quickly racking up a streak of twenty one consecutive wins by knockout. This streak caught the attention of international boxing magazines such as "The Ring KO Magazine ". Boxing Illustrated, Ring En Espanol. During this period Bruno defeated former world title contender Eddie Nielson and trial horses such as Bill Sharkey, Walter Santemore and Ken Lakuusta. However in May 1984 the up and coming future world champion, American James Bone Crusher Smith, halted that streak when he defeated  Bruno by a knockout in the tenth round of the final round of their bout, with Bruno leading clearly on all three judges cards.

As a general view, Bruno was carefully managed whereby he developed well so later give a strong account of him self in the big matches. Bruno won his next six bouts against respected opposition. He won the European Heavy Weight Title with a KO over Sweden Anders Eklund, KO former European Champion and world title contender Lucien Rodrigues .in one round was taken the distance for the first time by the useful world rated Philipp Brown  and beat young fighter Larry Frazier and Jeff Jordan. gner in an all British challenge Bruno won by a TKO in the eight round. In 1989 Bruno challenge Mike Tyson for the undisputed world heavy weight title. Bruno was defeated in the fifth round after an impressive fight.
