May 30th 1627 on the feast of the most Holy Trinity, numerous Blacks brought from the rivers of Africa disembarked from a large ship. Large numbers of the sick were lying on wet ground or rather in puddles of mud we spoke to them not with words but with our hands and our actions. Then we sat or rather knelt beside them and bathed their faces and bodies with wine. These was a letter of St Peter Claver Patron of African Slaves. A religious organization founded at Pure Heart Of Mary in Mobile in 1909 for Black Catholic Men who were then unable to join white organization. Although the color barrier had long vanished, the knights of Peter Claver keep on the color barrier.
