BLACK SOCIAL hISTORY : A TIME LINE IMAGES OF THE BLACK MADONNA :

The Black Madonna is one of those mysteries of all time as there are only speculations of where it came from, how old it is, who made it, in what country and by whom ?  One of the up take is that for centuries it was a white Madonna and child and this painting was hanging in various places and its the soot from centuries of candle smoke that mixed with the wax on the painting to turn the white Madonna and child to a Black Madonna and child. A fine theory but again a very good guess work by anyone standards  and one were there is no proof but pure tale handed down to fit the facts.

Where there is a common ground of agreement, no one knows were this figure and painting have come from, even though its found all over Europe, In the Americas and Caribbean Islands, The United States and in particular among the Catholics its one a painting and statue that you find in there churches and even shrines were they go on pilgrimages to pray for blessing, salvation and health. Some people believe that there is an ethnic twist to the development of the Black Madonna, may be it may have derived fro a black slave that formed a miracle in thousand of years gone by and has become part of our Christian values in the form of a Painting and Statue.
